The Hotel Lazareto is surrounded by the sea and our guests can enjoy swimming at the very perimeter of the hotel grounds, as long as one does not mind the rocky shore line. Otherwise, a jetty with easier access to the sea, is situated just 10 mts ahead of the reception building facing the bay.
Within walking distance from the Lazareto, approximately 200 mts. there is the purposely built stone terraced platform named ‘Kourkoula’ from which one can enjoy sunbathing, diving and swimming in the crystal clear waters that lap alongside the hotel.
For those who wish to enjoy swimming in deep sea waters with the castle citadel as a backdrop, there is also the choice of the ‘Portello,’ located on the outer walls of the fortress.
For families with small children who want shallow waters and a safer option, we highly recommend the pebble beach just over the only bridge of Monemvasia on your right hand which is flanked by several bars and taverns.
One is spoilt for choice of beaches within short driving distances anywhere between 3 to 10 km from Monemvasia. Several beaches worth mentioning are Pori, Ambelakia, Xifias, Kastella and St. Fokas on the southern coast line. Taverns are operating during the summer season on these locations.
