Monemvasia is a “must” destination for those who decide to take a tour of Peloponnese. If you are travelling to Monemvasia from the cities of Nafplio or Argos, there is a very picturesque alternative route that continues southwards along the east coastline of Peloponnese. After passing through the resorts of Astros and Tyros, you arrive at the traditional town of Leonidio. Once there, you head uphill to the picturesque village of Kosmas, crossing the imposing canyon of Dafnonas River, along the way you can stop at the famous monastery of Elona. From Kosmas you drive through Geraki with its Byzantine castle and churches, while proceeding through to Skala, Vlachiotis, Molai leading you onto the main road to Monemvasia itself.
